Throughout Fairbanks there are maintained, paved, bike paths. This morning I walked in the light rain, along the path on 2nd Ave. This path follows the Chena River up to Pioneer Park (see the pages section for more info on this park!) and then continues on alongside the Johansen Expressway.
Along the way I passed, The Riverfront Theater, Fairbanks Dog Park, Fairbanks Curling Club, The Alaska Goldpanners Baseball Field, and The Carlson Center and even in the midst of all these Fairbanks amenities you'll find nature and wildlife surround us.
On this part of the path I've seen many beaver, moose, ducks and caught Arctic Grayling in the river (a good fishing spot on either side of the river behind the Carlson Center -attention anglers -catch and release here- read the regs for details and don't forget your fishing license)
